**Where are we Going?

World Cruise : First Leg

There is always a lot of excitement when you book a world cruise. There is a lot of research that goes into the cruise. I spend days looking up each port. I like to know where we are going, reviews, restaurants, things to do. Often we do a private tour and find guides on line. Private tours often are much better then ships tours. Often less expensive, more personal, and you can do what you want when you want as quick or as slow as you want and get to get a local's personal view. Always better.

Then you have to decide what to bring for the amount of time you will be gone. Women need casual clothes for the day and for tours, dressy casual for dinner every night, and formal wear...shoes and jewelry to match. You need all the sundries to last for the time you are away-- tooth paste, tooth brush, hairbrush, shampoo, your favorite everyday things. I bring my own soap for washing my clothes on board...seems more gentle then the generic stuff they have on the ship. Not to worry, if you forgot anything you can buy it along the way. They have shops on the ship and you can find stuff in port. You also need to take care of your house while you are gone and figure out how the bills will be paid in your absence. It is not easy being gone 2 plus months.

This is our itinerary. Originally we were on the whole cruise, then we decided to just do half the cruise. San Francisco to Singapore. The whole cruise is 102 days in the South Pacific. There are 47 ports of call in 19 different countries. First leg of the cruise is San Francisco to Sydney.

You feel a greater sense of excitement boarding for a World Cruise then a regular Cruise. On these cruises they add better speakers, change up the dinner menu so you don't have the same dinner menus more then once, add more activities during the day and add classes like Spanish, Yamaha Key board, computer classes, memoir writing classes, pilates, chorus. Every segment they bring on new entertainment and always have a new magician for the magic shows. They have theme parties like Mardi Gras, Elvis Night, Tribute to the Beatles. We have the Olympics on board in all sorts of categories, best photo, darts, ring toss, shuffle board, scrabble, trivia, golf, swimming races.... In addition they have the usual trivia games, bridge, movies, fashion shows, cooking classes, bingo, board games, exercise classes .... You choose, as active or not active as you wish.
