Before all the weather came crashing down on us we had a fashion show and the Grand Buffet. David also performed on stage as part of the Crystal Chorus.
I understand Doug loves the food photos, makes him 'hungry', so here are a few more :)
Daiva would have loved this fashion show.....
Once again, we had to do face to face immigration. Hey, just like the USA, right? We had to fill out forms, have passport in hand and a stateroom key. A picture was taken and we were fingerprinted. Guess who was first in line?
What I like about some tours is we spend time with local guides. We hear stories about their lives, history, everyday life, family, customs etc. Our guide, Miyako, teaching us to count in Japanese and when she got married.
This is the yellow brick road we traveled today:
Typical housing - all white cement.
McDonalds in Japan.
We are now in Japanese toilet territory. Best to use American toilet if they have them.
On this tour we visited the second largest aquarium in the world.
Had lunch, and then made Shisa Dogs, a Chinese Guardian Dog they place on the roof or at the door of their homes to ward off evil spirits. These are made of clay then fired. I think they will make really
nice Christmas Grab Bag gifts. Guess who made which one.
We were the last bus back. Last ones on the ship before we sailed on. Again, a local dance group was on the pier. Whenever we sail away the ship plays ' It's a beautiful world' which always makes me sad. As we slip away from the pier the band and dancers finish their performance and then stand and wave good bye. It is really touching.
